One of the best moments in dance parties is when everyone in the dance floor sings along with the music being played.  And of course, this goes with everybody jumping up and down, with fingers pointing upwards and heads bobbing.  Yeah, maybe this happened to me several years ago, but this rather graphic image comes haunting me when I get to listen to this song.  And oh, I should really try to memorize this part of the song, because this is when the singing, jumping, pointing and bobbing happen.

When they were dancin' and singin' and movin' to the groovin'
And just when it hit me somebody turned around and shouted
Play that funky music white boy
Play that funky music right
Play that funky music white boy
Lay down the boogie and play that funky music till you die
Till you die

I swear, I can just close my eyes and dance. Now.

Someone sent me this video a long time ago, and until now, this never fails to make me laugh.  The girl is just sooo cute and adorable.

It's summer!  The kids are off in school now.  I don't have to worry about going home early to check on their homeworks.  No more late night reviewing.  Now I can watch tv or read a book or solve sudokus 'til the wee hours.  But then... it is kind of boring.

How I wish I could take a vacation SOMEWHERE.

It's the last stretch of the kids' school year 2009-2010.  I don't know whether I should be glad because I wouldn't worry about tutoring them at night anymore, and the fact that they cannot ask for school allowance every single day.  But then I have to think of activities for them to keep them busy, like swimming/basketball/art lessons.  And when they stay at home, they need to be fed every now and then!  Now I'm thinking it's more expensive to keep them at home.

It's also their final exams week so I have to go home early and tutor Andy and Migs.  And help Alexa with her Trig.  It's gonna be hell week for sure.

I remember when I was in college, during the Physics exam, I was totally clueless on how to solve the problem.  So I scribbled all the formulas I knew, then wrote down,
"Sorry sir, I can't figure out the solution.  Care for some points?"

The professor wrote back, "Sure.  1 point."

So I didn't end up with a zero exam.

Well, what I did back then was not as funny as these:

There's something about the weekend that makes me restless.  Perhaps it's the hot and humid weather.  Or the fact that there's nothing much to do.

So last Sunday when the temperature rose to almost 37 degrees, I just decided to have my already short hair cut even shorter.  I didn't want to drive to my usual salon because of the heat, so I went to the nearby beauty parlor where I had my foot spa instead.  I was not a regular client so I didn't know their hairstylists well.  I noticed that they charge cheaper and that made me kinda happy.  I then asked for the senior hairstylist, the most expensive of the lot...

To my surprise, the senior stylist turned out to be.. well, in her senior years.  I didn't show her how surprised I was but I still gave her the benefit of the doubt.  Maybe she's very experienced in the field of hairstyling.  Maybe she's attended seminars abroad to know the latest trends in hairstyles.

Well after about fifteen minutes,  I had an '80s look.

I still didn't show my disappointment and in my nicest, friendly smile, I asked her to snip some more here and there, just to have a more updated hairstyle.

Now I can't wait for my hair to grow longer.  Then I'll go back to my trusted hairstylist.  Scorching heat or not.

Sometimes I just get a craving for Mcdonald's.  Even in the middle of the night.  So there was one time when my daughter Alexa and I were really hungry and we wanted to have some burgers delivered at home.  Well we live in Laguna (a province.  Far from the main city.) but we have McDonald's right at the entrance of our subdivision.  We checked online whether they would accept online orders and deliver.  Lo and behold - they get online orders and do deliveries in Laguna, but only to our place!  Hooray for that!  I love Laguna Bel-Air.

Today, I just met up with a former dormmate of mine.  We haven't seen each other in over 20 years, thanks to Facebook we were able to reconnect our friendship.  So you can just imagine how excited I was to meet her.  We set our meeting time to around 6 pm in Makati, which was around 30 minutes drive from my office.  I left the office about 4:45 and what do you know, I arrived in Makati at 5:10.

Naturally, we talked about everything, mostly dorm and college life.. and oh, her lovelife.  Colorful indeed.  Wait 'til she hears mine. This is definitely not the last time we'll be seeing each other.  So, 'til next time, Marian!

I'm already in my 40s but I can say that there's still plenty of things I haven't done, or experienced.  This is why whenever there's a chance to do something new, I grab it.

I was strolling at the mall one day and passed by an alley with a blind massage parlor.  I haven't had a massage in hmm.. a year?... so I immediately took the chance and had a good massage.  It's not that expensive, and since it's not a spa, I didn't have to take my clothes off - just went inside, got down on the bed, paid the receptionist after, then left.  Very straightforward.  Not time consuming at all.

My 3 toenails are now healing!  These toenails which have been 'dead' for about 3 years now (thanks to tennis) seem to be cured - the black portion is gone but it left some white stuff which is good enough coz I could cover them with nail polish.  And the big toenail is thickened but I think it will be fine in a few months.  What a relief!  So to celebrate that, I went to the parlor last weekend to have a pedicure, at last.  I usually do my own pedicure because I'm too embarrassed to show my toenails to the pedicurist.  But now, not anymore!  So off I went to the parlor but you know these ladies, if you ask them for a pedicure, they will offer you more services, for a fee of course.    And being very gullible, I ended up with not just a pedicure but a foot spa to boot.  I realized that soaking my feet in the warm water was very soothing.  Then came the scrubbing which then I had some sort of a problem.  I was so ticklish that I could not stop myself from laughing!  Good thing the lady doing the foot spa was very nice, but I think she was actually amused because I told her that this is my very first time to have a foot spa and pedicure.  So after about an hour, my feet were so clean and soft to the touch, I didn't want to walk at all.  Gaad, it felt good.

"Miss You Like Crazy" is the much awaited follow-up movie after "One More Chance" of John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo.  I was not much into romantic Tagalog movies but after I saw 'One More Chance' way back in 2007, I became a fan.  Add to that 3 other girlfriends of mine...such that yesterday, being the first day of showing of "Miss You Like Crazy", we sneaked out of the office at 4:30 to watch it at a nearby theater.  Yeah, it's another tearjerker and very realistic movie.  Yeah, we cried a lot while watching it.  But I think I liked their first movie better.

And so I'm adding here the full movie "One More Chance" so I can watch it whenever I like.  Honestly, i've seen this several times already, but each time i watch it, it still makes me cry. waaaahhh!!!

One More Chance movie, watch here!

Adel Tamano, the son of the former senator, is currently running for the same position as his dad.  I remember voting for the old man, being a better representative of the Muslim sector.  But Adel here is a very modern Muslim guy, with a very good-looking face to boot.  And don't underestimate his credentials - he's a Harvard law grad... i'm so impressed.

Yesterday Adel was a guest in my favorite radio show, but I wasn't able to listen to the entire program coz I was in the office already.  Luckily, I got a copy of the segment...
